Student Visa Rules – An Introduction
You require 40 points to lodge the application for a student visa. These points can be obtained by:
1> Course confirmation:
You must get a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies(CAS) from a university ratified by UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI).
All universities must have been provided or appealed for Highly Trusted Status (HTS) on the UKVI Tier 4 Sponsor list (30 points). ‘A grade’ colleges can also issue CAS numbers. The ‘A’ rating is a transitional rating for 12 months and all ‘A grade’ colleges must apply for HTS status within this 12 month transition period.
All universities present on the Study London website have obtained Highly Trusted Status (HTS). You can go through the London university profiles to get more information about each and every London University or utilize the option of course search to find the suitable course for yourself.
2> Funding:
You must give proof of funds to pay for both your course tuition fees and your monthly living expense (10 points).
Course fees are on average £12,000 per annum but may range from £8,000 to £36,000. You will also require showing that you have £1,265 for each month of your studies (up to a maximum of nine months) to pay for living expense if you are planning to study in inner London. Therefore, if you would be studying in inner London into a course lasting nine months or more, the maximum funds that you will require is £11,385.
This applies to all the students aspired to study in London. The applicant would be considered to be studying ‘in London’ only if you secure admission at the University of London, or at institutions which are located wholly or partly within London, or in regions on the border of London such as parts of Hertfordshire, Essex, and Surrey. If you are not confirmed if your institution is considered to be ‘in London’ you must check with your university before you lodge an application.
3> Visa Application:
If you intend to submit your Tier 4 student visa application, you can visit theUK Visa & Immigration website to fill the online application form. International students all across the globe (apart from North Korea) have to lodge the visa application online. You will also have to provide your fingerprints and photographs (known as ‘biometric information’) at a visa application center as part of your application.
4> Immigration Health Service Charge:
All nationals from outside of Europe aspire to live in the UK prolonged than six months are necessary to pay a ‘health expense’ in order to get entitled to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). The health expense is worth £150 per year (or £75 for 6 months or less) is mandatory for students and is payable when you fill your visa application online. Visa applicants require paying up-front for the total duration of their visa.
